Hello!

I am Mrs. Skuza and I am into my 31st year of teaching. It's hard to believe because it has gone by so quickly! When I graduated from the College of St. Benedict, I was lucky to have been hired by the school where I had done my student teaching, Sacred Heart School. I began my teaching career in first grade, and after 12 years, I moved to third grade. I was also blessed with the opportunity to teach art to grades K-6 for an entire year. All of my 31 years have been with St. Katharine Drexel/Sacred Heart School! Which grade have I enjoyed the most? That's a tough question. There are things about each one that I have thoroughly enjoyed. But I DO have to say that I LOVE teaching third graders!

Oh, you'd like to know more? Okay, let's see.... I am married to Bill, 26 years now. I have two children, Emma and Henry. I thought that teaching was gratifying, but being a mom is even more amazing. Oh yes, there are those days when I seriously wonder if I will survive the teenage years, but life is an adventure, right?!

I do have other hobbies as well: spending time with family and friends, creating, reading, walking, laughing... I suppose the third graders would tell you that I "torture" them with my singing, and that it probably doesn't sound the best, but hey, if it helps them remember key concepts, I am going to continue!

If you'd like to stop in and see what third grade is like, you are more than welcome to do so. You never know what you will catch us doing; working hard, creating, doing an experiment, maybe even singing! Smiles and laughter are always welcome, as A DAY WITHOUT LAUGHTER IS A DAY WASTED!
